The Polaron Attenuated Pulse Emission Rifle is a medium-grade weapon used primarily in warfare. It offers high versatility in terms of aiming as it can be literally worn on the arm, allowing the hands some degree of freedom when wearing. It is commonly used by stronger-than-average soldiers as it is slightly heavy when donned.
History[]
The PAPER is a fairly recent invention and as a result has not been used in any wars to date. However, it has been implemented in several minor skirmishes with SmarT since the SmarT War of 2134.
Controversy[]
The PAPER is a slightly controversial gun, as it is slightly new AND is not a product from SmarT but rather from the lesser-known branch of the Entente-Coalition pact, The Corrective, who were also members in the signing of the pact although not mentioned due to their sinister ways. The gun uses a wood-based compound, having critics of the gun saying that the gun is not eco-friendly and that the gun could catch fire easily. The gun is also controversial due to its misleading acronym.
How it works[]

The PAPER is powered by a medium-grade BRB energy reactor stored in the middle of the barrel. Polarons are de-actuated from photons using a minimized general-effect Trevors-Phalen Mass Centrosystemic Field projected from a central hub via superluminal communication through Universe 88-A. These polarons are attenuated onto their target and fired using a pair of reflected-velocity Polaron Acceleration Field Generators also stored in the barrel. The polaron itself does no damage to the target, but its path through the air creates a pulse of destabilized molecules that can cause severe damage to a body's workings.
Pros and Cons of this weapon[]
Pros:
- A one-hit killer; people have survived, although rarely.
- Ammunition not required.
- Cheap to make thanks to wood-based compound.
- Leaves hand free when not firing.
- Uses clean BRB energy.
Cons:
- Heavy to carry.
- Reflected-velocity PAFGs are known to fail at the worst of times; see Murphy's Law.
- Corrective weapon - naturally they want it to be held the right way, have shown up on several occasions in the middle of battles to lecture soldiers on not firing properly.
- Several weak points - barrel, handle, trigger and PAFGs.
Response[]
SmarT has recently developed using stolen Corrective technology an anti-PAPER shield and two equivalent weapons, named the P.E.N.C.I.L. (shield), S.C.I.S.S.O.R.S. and E.R.A.S.E.R. (weapons).
PENCIL[]
The Polaron Emission Neutralizer Causality Inversion Laser is specially designed to neutralize the de-actuation of polarons fired by inverting cause and effect, i.e. polarons are not de-actuated because of the field working, but the field is working because of the de-actuation of the polaron. This leads to a feedback loop in that the polaron could not possibly be de-actuated in the first place, and actuates to a photon immediately in a flash of light. Polarons fired at a PENCIL shield will result in many dots of light as photons gain energy and fly off. Intensive firing my result in a temporary black region without photons.
SCISSORS[]
The Scalable Confined Intrestron SmarT Subtle-force Operational Radiated Sifter is a weapon that equals the PAPER in terms of power and flexiblity, but fires interestrons. As a direct result, the weapon has to be heavier than the standard PAPER.
ERASER[]
The Energetic Radiated Antipolaron Superspatial Emission Rifle is an antipolaron rifle, but projects them by raising them to superspace and adding energy before dropping them out at high speeds, leading to an energetic directed radiation of antipolarons. The ERASER has never been used in an actual battle, mainly because tests of the rifle showed that over use, it would slowly disappear when used against PAPER or PENCIL and eventually become a stub of a rifle butt.
STONE[]
A projected plan for a Specialized Tyrion Operation Null-field Energizer was scrapped halfway through production. Handling and firing of the STONE required muscles that could lift over 8 tons of Specialized Tyrion Operation Null-field Energizing machinery.
These plans were obtained after the SmarT War of 2134.
